Hours of Service: A Driver’s Guide
HOURS OF SERVICE: A DRIVER'S GUIDE ONLINE COURSE OVERVIEW
As the driver of a commercial motor vehicle, you log a lot of miles on the road under a variety of conditions. However, after many hours of driving, fatigue sets in, which can lead to bad decisions and, in some cases, accidents.
For this reason, the US Department of Transportation has established specific regulations regarding a driver’s hours of service, as well as the driver’s “record of duty status,” commonly known as “the driver’s daily log.”
Hours of Service regulations are based on the premise that if you drive too long, you get tired… and dangerous. No one wants tired drivers on the road.
