Course Overview
Together, H2S and SO2 represent two highly toxic gases encountered in many industries. While workers are often prepared for common workplace risks, standard PPE alone cannot protect against these lethal gases. There is no antidote for hydrogen sulfide exposure—only proactive training, awareness, and certification can safeguard lives.
The positive news is that with proper education, monitoring, and workplace safety measures, the dangers of sulfide gases can be significantly reduced. This course guides you through essential techniques, safety protocols, and equipment required to handle potential exposure to hazardous gases effectively.
Note: This course does not fulfill the requirements for H2S Alive or H2S Alive Blended certification.
The course is structured into six comprehensive chapters:

Upon completing this training, participants will be able to:
- Describe the characteristics of H2S and SO2 gases
- Identify the health effects of exposure to these substances
- Understand engineering and administrative measures to minimize exposure risks
- Operate and interpret gas detection devices
- Implement effective emergency procedures in case of gas leaks
Estimated time: 1.5 hours
To earn a certificate of completion for the H2S and SO2 Awareness online course, participants must achieve a passing score of 80%. If unsuccessful, learners may retake the course up to two additional times.
After successfully completing the course, a downloadable and printable certificate will be provided through the learning platform.
