This online course is designed to provide you with an introduction to Indigenous peoples of Canada. As Indigenous peoples have a long history before Canada even existed, we cannot address every topic, but this course will spark interest for you to learn more about the many cultures within Canada. This online course covers important topics such as important aspects of their vibrant cultures, life in Canada before colonization, and the impacts of colonization, all from the perspectives of Indigenous peoples.
Overall, this online course is composed of seven chapters. These modules include:

Chapter 2: Before Colonization
Chapter 3: Meeting of Two Worlds
Chapter 4: Consequences of Colonization
Chapter 5: Applying Traditional Knowledge to Current Topics
Chapter 6: Myths and Stereotypes about Indigenous Cultures
Chapter 7: Working Together
Upon completion, you will be presented with a final exam to test your knowledge.
As there are over 600 distinct Indigenous cultures in Canada, we cannot cover all topics in detail but provide a strong foundation of knowledge to start you on your own learning journey! By the end of this course, you should be able to:

Average Completion Time
Completion times vary depending on the number of times the information is viewed prior to finishing the course. The average completion time is 120 minutes.
Testing is conducted in this online course to reinforce the information presented. You are provided three opportunities to achieve a passing mark of 80% or greater.
