Working around known sources of Asbestos fibres and Silica Dust present dangers to your health. To protect yourself, specific personal protective equipment, best practices, and strategies must be used. This course walks you through these requirements for both Asbestos and Silica.

Information relating to Asbestos and Silica will be presented in four chapters:

  • Chapter 1: Defining Asbestos and Silica Dusts
  • Chapter 2: Comparing Health Hazards
  • Chapter 3: Establishing a Safe Workplace
  • Chapter 4: Employer and Employee Responsibilities

Upon completion, you will be presented with a final exam to test your knowledge.

Cyber Awareness Training - Online Training

In this training, we’ll discuss the various methods, controls, and equipment used to protect yourself against these dangerous particles in the workplace. By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Define asbestos and silica and where they may be found
  • Recognize the health impacts of exposure to these particles
  • Identify engineering and administrative controls used to protect you against asbestos and silica dust
  • Understand what PPE is required
  • Explain procedures in the event of accidental exposure

This course was created using standards that will allow playback on most internet capable devices with standard web browsing capabilities including Apple’s iTouch, iPad, and iPhone, as well as most other smart phones and tablets including those with Android and Windows operating systems.

Knowledge Assessment

Testing is conducted in this online course to reinforce the information presented. You are provided three opportunities to achieve a passing mark of 80% or greater.
